| If you need to buy some prescription drugs in Moscow, they can be obtained at chemists or pharmacies (Apteka). In Moscow you will not need a Doctor's prescription for almost any drugs, as they are sold over the counter - the Doctor's prescription just tells you which drugs to ask for. In the larger chemists there will usually be separate counter for the sale of prescription type drugs and sometimes you will also pay at that counter and not the general cashiers. Smaller chemists will often have only one cashier. For non prescribed drugs such as Panadol and the like, they will best be sourced at the larger chemists or the dispenseraries operated by the medical clinics servicing foreigners. Supermarkets and other shops in Moscow, do not sell non-prescription drugs as is often the case in other countries. You will normally find that near any supermarket, there will at least be a small booth selling a good range of basic drugs and medical supplies. |
