Where can I smoke
Unfortunately, if you are a smoker you can smoke almost anywhere in Moscow and poison the people around you.  Very few restaurants are non-smoking and only a handful offer a non-smoking area that is properly segregated from the smoking area.  You are not allowed to smoke in elevators (lifts), nor are you allowed to smoke in the Metro.  Museums, art galleries and the like do not allow smoking and theatres and cinemas do not allow smoking except in designated smoking areas (which usually are located near the toilets, meaning any person wishing to use the toilet must brave a thick dense cloud of toxic fumes to get there and back).  Bars, pubs and nightclubs are all smoking zones.  As a rule, Russians smoke a lot and there are literally millions of them smoking all over the place.  If you go out for the night and your nigth involves a restaurant, cafe, bar, club or nightclub (even with a non-smoking zone) you will come home smelling of smoke.
