| We prefer that you do NOT wear shoes in the apartment. We supply two pairs of slippers for wearing in the apartment - and request that you either use them or use your own. Russians as a habit, do not wear shoes in their apartments or homes due to the dirt that they bring into the apartment. Moscow is a very dusty city and when it is dry and warm, your shoes will bring through dirt and dust from the street into the apartment and when it is either wet or snowing, your shoes will be covered in mud and dirt from the snow or rain. By not wearing shoes inside the apartment, you help to preserve the lifespan of the floor coverings and keep the apartment much cleaner for your own use. If you visit the home of any Russian, you should always remove your dirty shoes just inside the doorway. |
