| Each bank sets its own rules about opening bank accounts for foreigners. Most banks are equipped to open bank accounts for foreigners that are residing in Moscow for any period of time, but for short term travellers they may not wish to open bank accounts, unless you can establish some reason for needing a bank account - such as recurring short term travel. One of the essentials for opening a bank account will be registration in Moscow and the bank would generally expect that you are travelling on a visa that is not a tourist visa, again, depending on circumstances the bank will determine whether they will open bank account or not. One issue to face will be language constraints, as not all banks are equipped with foreign speaking staff - banks such as Raiffeissen have English speaking staff that are able to assist you and some banks (such as Uniastrum Bank) have sections specifically for dealing with foreigners. |
